Henco de Berg
De blinde musicus Henco de Berg werd in 1967 in het Friese Drachten geboren. Hij studeerde orgel bij Ernest Gervais en bekwaamde zich daarna aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium bij Jet Dubbeldam, Arie J. Keijzer en Maurice Pirenne. Voor orgel behaalde hij de diploma's Docerend en Uitvoerend Musicus alsook de Aantekening voor orgelimprovisatie. De Berg studeerde tevens Theorie der Muziek bij Henk de Croon aan het Fontys-Conservatorium te Tilburg. Arie J. Keijzer en Jan Welmers waren zijn leermeesters in de verfijning van zijn improvisatietechniek. Tweemaal nam hij deel aan de improvisatieklas voor orgel en piano van Louíc Mallié aan de Internationale Zomeracademie te Haarlem. Piet Kee onderrichtte hem in Bach-interpretatie. Als organist is hij verbonden aan de Église Wallonne te Breda waar hij het König-orgel uit 1763 bespeelt. Als hoofdvakleraar voor orgel en improvisatie is Henco de Berg verbonden aan het Fontys-Conservatorium te Tilburg. Daarnaast geeft hij regelmatig concerten in binnen- en buitenland.
Op het label Prestare verschenen drie cd's met improvisaties (Grote- of Sint Laurenskerk te Rotterdam, Grote- of Sint Bavokerk te Haarlem en La Madeleine te Parijs) en een cd met composities van Max Reger en Olivier Messiaen (Saint-Martin te Dudelange, Luxemburg).Nieuwe CD in 2010

The discipline of improvisation is nothing other than on-the-spot composition, whether the form is preconceived or not. There should be no musical preparation, and for the present CD only a number of themes were written beforehand.
